Gloria Bistrița s-a calificat în sferturile de finală ale EHF Champions League la handbal feminin, după ce a învins categoric echipa daneză Ikast Handbold, scor 37–28 (16–15), în returul play-off-ului disputat la TeraPlast Arena.
După un prim meci echilibrat, câștigat în deplasare cu 35–34, formația bistrițeană a confirmat în fața propriilor suporteri, într-o partidă în care diferența s-a făcut în repriza secundă. Prima parte a fost una disputată, cele două echipe mergând cap la cap, însă după pauză Gloria a reușit să se desprindă decisiv.
Principala marcatoare a meciului a fost Danila So Delgado Pinto, cu 14 goluri, evoluție care i-a adus și titlul de jucătoarea meciului. Totodată, aceasta a atins borna de 100 de goluri marcate în actualul sezon.
Antrenorul echipei Ikast, Claus Mogensen, a declarat la final că echipa sa a crezut în șansele de calificare până spre mijlocul reprizei secunde: „Am simțit că putem câștiga și că avem o șansă până la jumătatea reprizei a doua. Am încercat să revenim, dar nu ne-a ieșit.”
De cealaltă parte, antrenorul Gloriei, Carlos Viver, a subliniat dificultatea ambelor partide: „Au fost două meciuri foarte grele și a fost nevoie de multă muncă pentru a câștiga. Sunt foarte fericit pentru echipă.”
Jucătoarea Jamina Roberts, de la Ikast, a remarcat diferența dintre cele două reprize: „Am jucat bine în prima repriză, dar în a doua am pierdut consistența defensivă.”
La rândul său, Danila So Delgado Pinto a evidențiat momentul în care meciul s-a decis: „A fost nevoie de aproximativ 50 de minute pentru a face diferența.”
În urma acestui rezultat, Gloria Bistrița avansează în sferturile de finală, unde va întâlni echipa Brest Bretagne din Franța.
Gloria Bistrița qualified for the quarterfinals of the EHF Champions League in women’s handball, after decisively defeating the Danish team Ikast Handbold, score 37–28 (16–15), in the second leg of the play-off played at TeraPlast Arena.
After a balanced first match, won away by 35–34, the Bistrița team confirmed in front of its own supporters, in a match in which the difference was made in the second half. The first half was a disputed one, with the two teams going head to head, but after the break Gloria managed to break away decisively.
The main scorer of the match was Danila So Delgado Pinto, with 14 goals, an evolution that also earned her the title of player of the match. At the same time, she reached the milestone of 100 goals scored in the current season.
Ikast coach Claus Mogensen said at the end that his team believed in their chances of qualifying until the middle of the second half: “We felt we could win and that we had a chance until the middle of the second half. We tried to come back, but we couldn’t.”
On the other hand, Gloria coach Carlos Viver highlighted the difficulty of both games: “They were two very tough games and it took a lot of work to win. I’m very happy for the team.”
Ikast player Jamina Roberts noted the difference between the two halves: “We played well in the first half, but in the second we lost our defensive consistency.”
Danila So Delgado Pinto, for her part, highlighted the moment when the match was decided: “It took about 50 minutes to make the difference.”
Following this result, Gloria Bistrița advances to the quarterfinals, where they will meet the Brest Bretagne team from France.
